Speed comes from managing uncertainty, not from guessing faster.
Work depth-first
Do not bounce randomly between brackets. Clear the deepest nesting first so every outer clue gains useful context.
Keep grammar visible
Part of speech matters. If the sentence needs a verb, a plausible noun is probably not the intended replacement.
Test familiar phrases
When two solved words sit together, say them aloud. Titles, idioms, brands, and proper names often reveal themselves by cadence.
Delay uncertain ink
Write ambiguous candidates lightly and solve neighboring clues. New context is more reliable than forcing the first association.
Audit every bracket
Before finishing, count the original clues against your replacements and scan for stray bracket characters.
